Making Green Hydrogen Understandable
How do you explain a future hydrogen plant to a curious six-year-old and someone who has never heard of green hydrogen before?
That question became the starting point for a permanent public exhibition created for RES and the planned hydrogen facility in Alby, Sweden.
The exhibition is located in the former school cafeteria in Alby and was developed as a way to create visibility, understanding and engagement around a project that would otherwise remain largely invisible during the long planning and permitting phase. While environmental assessments, permitting processes, technical design and future commercial agreements take years to complete, the exhibition offered something tangible for the local community to visit and explore.
The exhibition opened in conjunction with the project’s public consultation process and was designed to welcome a wide audience — from local residents and decision-makers to school classes and children from the nearby preschool.
Together with Kerttu Heiskanen, I developed the exhibition concept, content strategy and visual design. The concept was built around the idea of a project under construction, using construction-inspired materials such as OSB panels alongside physical models, educational storytelling and interactive elements to make complex topics accessible and engaging.
